BASIC BEHAVIOR

Let us examine just your own basic behavior, quite aside from special situations. How you act, look, dress, do, under any circumstances. There are certain basic manners or ways of being that are common or current with most people of good manners. Let us cover these general rules:

Have a heart of gold, by all means, but don't expect it to help you very much when you first meet people. Forget all the old maxims about not judging a book by its cover and remember that first impressions are important. So, put your very best self forward and make (hat first impression a favorable one. Later on, let your intelligence and your integrity get in their good work.

SHAKING HANDS

Do you like to touch a dead fish? Who does? When you offer your hand in greeting, be sure it carries a warm, firm grip, not a slithery, flabby, come-and-get-me droop. Shake hands as though you were genuinely pleased to meet the person.
